National RHY Grantees Training Site Visit

Participants have the opportunity to visit Covenant House Florida during the 2019 National RHY Grantees Training. This organization is an RHY grantee, operating a basic center program. In addition to visiting Covenant House, attendees participating in the site visit will have the opportunity to visit Pace Center for Girls or Flite Center. Pace provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training, and advocacy. Flite Center is a resource available to youth aging out of foster care to assist with successful transitions into independent living.

Attendees with a site visit ticket should meet in the Caribbean Foyer (near registration) no later than 2:45 p.m. EST, with the site visit ticket provided at check-in. Three lines will be available: Bus A, Bus B, and Stand-by. Bus A will visit Covenant House and Pace Center. Bus B will visit Flite Center and Covenant House. Buses are boarded on a first come, first served basis. Boarding will start at 2:45 p.m. EST —  all participants must be in the boarding area by this time or risk losing their seat without a refund. Those interested in waiting in the stand-by line for an opportunity to fill an empty seat may do so — please bring $5 (exact change). RHYTTAC staff will fill empty seats at 2:50 p.m. until the allotted seat count is full.

RHYTTAC recognizes the excitement regarding the site-visits and the opportunity to see how grantees operate programs in their communities. This excitement must be balanced with the reality of the burden placed on grantees providing services to youth and families during these visits. RHYTTAC partners with host sites to identify the number of visitors that can safely and ethically be accommodated to ensure the confidentiality and continuation of effective services during the visits. This number will be necessarily small and therefore, not everyone will have the opportunity to participate.
