2020 National RHY Grantees Training Update

The Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), the Runaway and Homeless Youth Training and Technical Assistance Center (RHYTTAC), and the 2020 National Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Grantees National Training planning committee are pleased to share updated national training details.

The 2020 National RHY Grantees Training will begin on Tuesday, November 17, and end on Thursday, November 19.

To help increase opportunities for participation across the country, event sessions will take place during the afternoons (Eastern Standard Time).

Pre-training opportunities, including Motivational Interviewing for Youth Work, New RHY Grantees Orientation, Grants Management for RHY Grantees, and Introduction to the Runaway and Homeless Youth – Homeless Management Information System (RHY-HMIS) Platform, will be available on Monday, November 16, beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The national training will include an opening keynote presentation, general federal session, regional meetings, workshops, poster sessions, virtual site visits, and a closing plenary to include a celebration of the FYSB RHY Artistic Expression Contest award winner and keynote presentation. Plans also include self-care activities, available consultation appointments with RHYTTAC and RHY-HMIS representatives, and opportunities for networking with colleagues.

The theme for the national training will be, “Building Futures of Hope for RHY.” 2020 has been a year like no other for Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) programs and the youth they serve. In dealing with the impact of a pandemic, natural disasters, and community unrest – RHY programs have developed innovative ways to address the trauma, continue services, and reach vulnerable youth. RHY programs partner with youth to build hope and work toward positive futures. The 2020 National RHY Grantees Training will promote promising practices and evidence-informed responses to trauma.
