National RHY Grantees Training

The Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) and National Safe Place Network (NSPN) are pleased to host the 2019 National Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Grantees Training in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from Tuesday, November 12th through Thursday, November 14th

The training will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12th and conclude at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14th.  There will be opportunities to attend additional institute trainings preceding the national training on Monday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.

This annual training is open to youth service providers not currently funded by FYSB to operate RHY programs.  This will provide the opportunity for partners of RHY programs, youth serving organizations, and those previously funded by FYSB to attend the National Training.  Please note the registration fee for attendees in these categories is $400.00 and a federal travel stipend is not provided. Expanding the attendance at the national training promotes additional partnerships and perspectives on the critical work of serving vulnerable youth populations.

This event provides a significant opportunity for individuals to come together to share knowledge, experiences, and creativity in order to pursue the common goal of providing effective services to the country’s runaway and homeless youth. This event features keynote presentations, federal updates from FYSB, regional meetings with federal specialists, more than 30 workshop sessions, poster sessions, a networking session, and site visits. Hundreds of dedicated professionals who share this goal attend the training to:

  • Hear from experts in the field

  • Learn about best and promising practices from across the country

  • Collaborate to explore effective ways to work with runaway and homeless youth

  • Learn about local culture and youth programs by participating in a site visit

  • Connect with colleagues and take advantage of sharing and collaboration opportunities

Training participants include federal representatives and RHY grantees serving in several different areas of practice, including, but not limited to, community agencies, government, academia, and business. These individuals include agency board members, executives, other key decision makers, middle managers, clinicians, case managers, and direct care workers. More than 800 attendees are anticipated at the National RHY Grantees Training. This is based not only on the number of grantees served but also the history of attendance at this successful event. Along with FYSB and other federal grant partners, attendance is reserved for individuals or groups representing RHY organizations currently receiving federal funds.

All RHY grantees are required to include the cost of attendance for at least one person for the National RHY Grantees Training in program budgets.

Registration for the 2019 National RHY Grantees Training is not yet open. Please check back for opportunities to register and for more information.
