Series Part 3: Technical Assistance (TA) Cafe: Labor Trafficking Prevention: Implementation in RHY Programs
Tuesday, August 17, 2021, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT
Category: TA Cafe

Human Trafficking Series

In 2020, the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) developed and released the Issue Brief: Human Trafficking Prevention for Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Settings. This Issue Brief outlines recommendations to integrate human trafficking prevention into RHY settings. The recommendations were developed based on RHY grantees feedback (i.e., current practice perceptions on human trafficking prevention for young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability), existing research and resources, CDC’s prevention principles, and the RHY programmatic framework.

This three-part series will build on information from the Issue Brief to increase participants’ understanding of, and capacity to integrate culturally responsive prevention strategies into their existing programs utilizing public health, trauma-informed, and Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles. This series is intended for FYSB Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Grantees and is not open to the public. Please share with your agency colleagues.

All grantees are invited to attend the virtual training. Grantees who would like to participate in one or both of the Technical Assistance (TA) Cafes must have attended the live virtual training or viewed the recording.

Series Part 3: Technical Assistance (TA) Cafe: Labor Trafficking Prevention: Implementation in RHY Programs

Date: August 17, 2021 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET

To register for this event, participants must attend Part 1: Human Trafficking Prevention: Strategies for RHY Programs on July 21, 2021, or view the recording on the RHYTTAC E-learning site to participate in this event. This recording will be posted shortly following the event.

This TA Cafe will engage RHY grantees in the implementation of labor trafficking prevention practices with youth who have run away or are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Through peer-to-peer learning, facilitated discussion, and interactive coaching, participants will contribute to, and leave with usable strategies and next steps for implementing effective prevention practices with youth experiencing homelessness.

Following this TA Cafe participants will be prepared to:

  • Informally assess program/organizational capacity regarding labor trafficking prevention among youth experiencing homelessness (i.e., gaps, strengths, needs).
  • Integrate a prevention response based on the unique needs and strengths of youth experiencing homelessness, as well as public health, trauma-informed, and positive youth development principles.
  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies and goals for implementation.
