RHY Basic Center Program Funding Opportunity Announcement Available

The Administration for Children and Families, Administration on Children, Youth and Families' Family and Youth Services Bureau announces the release of the Basic Center Program (BCP) Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).

BCPs work to establish or strengthen community-based programs that meet the immediate needs of runaway and homeless youth under 18 years of age and their families. BCPs provide youth with emergency shelter, food, clothing, counseling, and referrals to necessary services. BCPs can provide temporary shelter for up to 21 days for youth and seek to reunite young people with their families, whenever possible, or to locate appropriate, alternative placements. Additional services may include street-based services, home-based services for families with youth at risk of separation from the family, drug abuse education, and prevention services.

The We Think Twice Website is Now Available! Share New Tools to Help Teens put Their Futures First

We Think Twice is a youth-driven social media campaign that empowers teens to build knowledge and skills to form healthy relationships, set goals for the future, and feel confident in their decision not to have sex, use drugs, drink, smoke, or engage in other risky behaviors. The campaign, launched by the Family and Youth Services Bureau in partnership with the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health in 2019, has a new website with a variety of tools and tips for youth.

With the support of Runaway and Homeless Youth grantees like you, we can help teens across the country make healthy decisions and put their goals first! Check out four new resources available on the website and use our sample social media posts to share them with the youth who you serve.

Guidance in Addressing COVID-19 Webpage Updates

In March 2020, the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) and the Runaway and Homeless Youth Training and Technical Assistance Center (RHYTTAC) published a webpage with information and resources specific to the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). To support more efficient access to resources, the webpage has been re-organized by Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Program categories.
