Series Part 2: Technical Assistance (TA) Cafe: Sex Trafficking Prevention: Implementation in RHY Programs
Tuesday, August 03, 2021, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT
Category: TA Cafe

Human Trafficking Series

In 2020, the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) developed and released the Issue Brief: Human Trafficking Prevention for Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Settings. This Issue Brief outlines recommendations to integrate human trafficking prevention into RHY settings. The recommendations were developed based on RHY grantees feedback (i.e., current practice perceptions on human trafficking prevention for young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability), existing research and resources, CDC’s prevention principles, and the RHY programmatic framework.

This three-part series will build on information from the Issue Brief to increase participants’ understanding of, and capacity to integrate culturally responsive prevention strategies into their existing programs utilizing public health, trauma-informed, and Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles. This series is intended for FYSB Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Grantees and is not open to the public. Please share with your agency colleagues.

All grantees are invited to attend the virtual training. Grantees who would like to participate in one or both of the Technical Assistance (TA) Cafes must have attended the live virtual training or viewed the recording.

Series Part 2: Technical Assistance (TA) Cafe: Sex Trafficking Prevention: Implementation in RHY Programs

Date: August 3, 2021 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET

Participants must attend Part 1: Human Trafficking Prevention: Strategies for RHY Programs on July 21, 2021, or view the recording on the RHYTTAC E-learning site to participate in this event. You must be logged in to the E-learning site to be taken directly to recording, or you can search for 'Human Trafficking Series'.

This TA Cafe will engage RHY grantees in the implementation of sex trafficking prevention practices into their existing programs. Following this TA Cafe participants will be prepared to:

  • Informally assess program/organizational capacity regarding sex trafficking prevention among youth experiencing homelessness (i.e., gaps, strengths, needs).
