Upcoming Training - Little Rock, AR: Motivational Interviewing

This two-day, regionally based training will be presented in Little Rock, Arkansas, Region VI. Through lecture, discussion, PowerPoint presentations, video, role-play, and partner activities, this training will provide participants with:

  • Insight into the role of cognitive interventions in evidence-based practice.
  • An understanding of concepts and vocabulary specific to Miller and Rollnick's theory of motivational interviewing and its role in trauma-informed practice.
  • An understanding of how behaviors change through a presentation of Prochaska and DiClemente's stages of change model.
  • Awareness of the righting reflex as an impediment to effective interventions.
  • Opportunity through practice exercises to develop and hone skills with specific communication strategies known as OARS.
  • A specialized module to assist supervisors and Motivational Interviewing champions to conduct in-house skills practice.
